The Center for Educational Quality Accreditation, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City participates in the Plan for implementing assurance and accreditation of education quality activities in higher education in Vietnam within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding on the educational cooperation between the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam and the British Council.
In July 2023, the Center for Educational Quality Accreditation, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City (CEA-HCM) received an invitation from Ms. Donna McGowan, Country Director, British Council in Vietnam to participate and contribute to the Plan for implementing assurance and accreditation of education quality activities in higher education in Vietnam within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding on education cooperation between the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) and the British Council signed on October 31, 2021.
Within the framework of the 2023 project, CEA-HCM participates in providing self-assessment information based on a reference framework developed by experts from the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA), United Kingdom in collaboration with Vietnamese consultants. The reference framework includes 8 areas and 56 criteria built on the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG), aiming to compare external quality assurance methods applied in Vietnam and the UK.
After the implementation of phase 1, on January 11, 2024, the British Council coordinated with the Education Quality Management Agency, MOET to organize a report announcement session on ‘Strengthening assurance and accreditation of education quality activities in higher education towards the international integration’ with the participation of more than 400 higher education leaders including Presidents, Vice Presidents, Heads/Deputy Heads of the Department of Quality Assurance, Directors of the Center for Educational Quality Accreditation and experts and accreditors from more than 115 higher education institutions and 07 the Center for Educational Quality Accreditation.

The British Council was committed to working with the Ministry of Education and Training to improve the quality of education and internationalize education in Vietnam through the cooperation activities with relevant stakeholders on improving quality assurance at the universities in Vietnam with the support of experts from professional units and universities in the UK. Since February 2023, the British Council and the Education Quality Management Agency, Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam have developed a Plan to implementing assurance and accreditation of education quality activities in higher education in Vietnam according to the international integration orientation for the period 2023 – 2024. Strategically, this implementation plan will support the implementation of three national programs including Decision 78/QD-TTg on strengthening assurance and accreditation of education quality activities in higher education in Vietnam for the period 2022 – 2030. The British Council and the Education Quality Management Agency, Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam, will jointly monitor the implementation of this action plan. |
